I know what it feels like to scream into a pillow, desperate for the noise inside to stop. Addiction, depression, stress, emotional turmoil—I knew these long before I knew peace. I knew sleepless nights, thoughts and worries trampling through my mind, leaving me exhausted the next day. Day after day.
Meditation changed that.
But learning to practise correctly took time. At first, I learned from YouTube, silent retreats, meditation apps and books. Under the guidance of my Guru, Om Swami ji, over the last eleven years, I put in thousands of hours of practice—in solitude and in busy daily life. I made plenty of mistakes and gradually began to really understand how to meditate.
I now live in a gentle, ongoing meditative state. Through my practical experience, I realised I could break the process down into the simple steps I wished I’d understood when I was learning.
Last year, a small group of loved ones asked to meditate with me online and learn what I could share.
And so that’s what we did.
We met every morning on Zoom, and for around 15 minutes each day, I broke down my technique into steps simple enough for a child to understand, and recorded the sessions for those who couldn’t always attend.
I hadn’t planned a course, but those mornings became Learn Meditation and Mindfulness in 40 Days: forty free videos for anyone sincerely interested in beginning or deepening their practice.
For the past year, I haven’t brought the series to the forefront of my blog. Those who knew it was there, knew. But the feedback tells me I shouldn’t be shy about sharing it.
It has come from people facing addiction, mental health difficulties, painful family situations, financial distress and health problems.
One young person living with schizophrenia described experiencing a silent mind for the first time! I bawled my eyes out in gratitude to the Universe when I read their message.
Another young person found moments of peace amid deeply personal grief.
Others have described energetic sensations, stillness, deeper awareness and changes in how they meet their lives.
Even I have been surprised by how quickly some have progressed. This is a testament to their sincerity and tenacity. I am so, so proud of them!
And sincerity doesn’t mean watching a video every single day. There’s no pressure.
Sometimes life gets overwhelming. Sometimes the mind rebels. They take breaks, but they keep coming back—starting again or picking up where they left off.
Take weeks, months, a year or longer. It doesn’t matter. Simply master each lesson before moving on.
And yes, it might be boring! So simple and repetitive that you might wonder whether there’s any point.
But repetition is how we learn! The point is to master one breath, just one, over and over and over… yep, and over again, until you master every breath and the MAGIC happens!
I fondly remember Swami ji’s example of digging for water: keep changing places, and you may never reach it. Keep digging in one spot, shovel after shovel, and eventually water will gush forth.
The entire series is free, under the Watch tab in the menu.
Or, if you prefer, start with Day 1 on YouTube.

A little warning: I never intended these sessions to become a public series. The videos are homemade and as unpolished as I am; Hollywood can rest easy 😉
But my experience is there shared with all my heart, and my Guru’s grace, in the hope that you, too, will find the peace and divinity that’s already in you, waiting to be discovered.
Happy meditating!
Love,
Sushree Diya Om
